This project was extremely hands-on. I gathered physical photographs, documents, and fabrics to include in my designs. The book itself was hand bound and the belly band was hand crocheted to hold it together. I chose to add a crocheted belly band to mimic the hand done lace pieces featured in the book. The belly band is much more rugged and imperfect compared to the neat and precise nature of my family's lace pieces. This highlights the role my ancestral history has on my identity, as well as the internal conflict I have had with my cultural identity.
